Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

Garnet walked with Jareth , Her eyes wandering absentmindedly on his attire . She came to an abrupt halt as she studied his attire completely . 
Jareth stopped as well , eyes questioning her. 
"Are you...By any chance , A knight ?" Garnet voiced out what was on her mind .It just occured to her and she never really noticed it earlier.


Jareth's eyes widened slightly "How did you...." He paused as he realized his attire . He smiled charmingly at Garnet "yea . A royal knight . I serve the royal family "
"Oh " Garnet nodded in understanding , "Then why are you in the town ? Shouldn't you be guarding them all the time ?" 
Jareth grinned "They give me time to rest"
Garnet smiled "Oh"


Jareth took Garnet to a nearby eating lounge called "Restaurante". They entered the place slowly , The guards bowing a little to them but mostly , to Jareth .
 Garnet was mesmerized with the beauty of such place . The walls were finely decorated with white gold jewel stones while an extremely elegant curtains adored it . The tables were styled magnificently as though it was the very own table of the present king . This place reminds Garnet of heaven .

Jareth took in Garnet's awed expression 
"I take it you like this place ?" Garned nodded , absentmindedly .She's still mesmerized by the beauty of the place .  
Jareth chuckled and guided Garnet to one of the tables . He assisted her in seating and took his seat in front of hers . 
"This is one of the best eating lounge here in Galbierre , although Gallamb palace's is much more elegant"
Garnet looked at him , her attention was piqued by his statement 
"Really?" She inquired 
Jareth was about to say something when the Keeper approached them
"Good day to you sir Guildfeld and Young lady" The woman bowed respectfully 
Jareth smiled at the keeper and inclined his head as well "Good day to you as well , Lady Kierre"
"What would you like today ?" 
Jareth looked at Garnet "What would you want ?"
"The best there is" Garnet beamed , clearly excited .
Jareth smiled at her then faced Lady Kierre "Milady , Two grilled turkey please" 
Lady Kierre bowed then took her leave 


Garnet started looking at Jareth strangely . 
Jareth noticed this and asked " Is something the matter ?"
Garned flushed " N-no , nothing . It's just that ever since we came here , everyone has been staring at us " Garnet stammered 
Jareth chuckled lightly "That's because your with me" 
Garnet looked at him questioningly. 
Jareth smiled ,clearly amused "You should know that Knights here are revered and honored.We belong to the families of nobles"
Garnet was lost in her thoughts for a while ,absorbing the new information Just like in Galdine .Garnet also noticed the glares of the females sent in her direction
"You've probably piqued their attention.They haven't seen you here before and I am quite famous with the ladies here.They're probably wondering why you are with me when I never gave them the chance to" Jareth stated still amused , giving Garnet his most charming smile.
Garnet rolled her eyes "Quite the ladies man eh ?" 
Jareth chuckled and Garnet soon followed.
Garnet's eyes drifted back to the place. Earth is really something . 


The server arrived already and served their food gently . Jareth and Garnet mumbled their thanks and with a bow, the server left .
Garnet and Jareth enjoyed their meals as they listened to the sound of the violin being played in the center of the lounge

Garnet shifted her position in her bed . She couldn't go to sleep . The  conversation with Jareth earlier wouldn't go away in her head . 


"You're not from here aren't you?" 
Garnet looked up to see Jareth staring intently at her 
"What gave me away?" She asked , curious.
Jareth's features lightened up "I know everyone here. The moment I saw you , I knew you were not from here"
Garnet smiled at Jareth "Is that so ?"
Jareth smiled back "Yea , and did I ever tell you ,you don't look like the rest of the females here ?"
Garnet blushed mildly , His words ringing in her head "O-oh? N-no" She was speechless.
Jareth saw the change in Garnet's features . He grinned shyly "I'm sorry , I did not mean to scare you" 
"O-oh NO ! It's not that " Garnet tried to reason "It's just , It's my first time ...Thank you  "
Jareth smiled charmingly at her "No need to thank me Milady.You deserve it.There's just something in you that seems.....different"
Garnet was deep in her thoughts . Even though human , he can still sense her difference with the others . She wondered if everyone noticed it too
"Oh by the way" Jareth said
Garnet looked at him again "yes ?" Her hand bringing the food into her mouth
"Are you free tomorrow ? There is something I want to show you" Jareth said
"Tomorrow ?" Garnet thought about it for a while then smiled "Sure"
Then they continued eating and chatting about Galbierre,Jareth and so much more.

It won't hurt right ? If I go with him tomorrow ? Maybe I can ask for some information regarding my mission Garnet thought as she remembered what Jareth said earlier . Garnet touched her face subconsciously. I'm a human now , How can they still notice the difference ?

Garnet walked towards the direction of the town market . They decided to meet there . As she walked slowly , Jareth's form was starting to get clearer and clearer .
Garnet mustered all her strength and fought the blush creeping to her cheeks as she saw how handsome he looked


 " Hi " She finally greeted 
Jareth saw her and smiled as well "Good morning Milady"
He started walking towards her. Garnet couldn't help but take notice of his attire . he's not wearing his usual knight attire but instead, He's wearing a red suit with a green ribbon, over it was a red jacket .He looked dashing like he's some kind of a prince. Garnet understood now why the girls were glaring at her They were jealous
"Are you ready ?" Jareth asked 
Garnet merely nodded , still captivated by his appearance 
"Then shall we go ?" 
Garnet nodded once again then they fell into steps with Jareth leading the way.

Garnet stared in wonder at this place Jareth called "Museum". She walked around and stared at those nicely done paintings. 
They are truly a masterpiece. Paintings of places and people were everywhere.There were vases and well-crafted pots as well.
She also noticed the paintings dedicated to her father , King Hiyo . She laughed inwardly as the paintings didn't resemble her father at all.Good thing there's a name written below the painting. 
She looked around and searched for more paintings about Galdine, She stopped as she noticed a weird painting . The painting clearly showed the environment of Galdine but with a much different kingdom.The castle was different.The creatures surrounding it were  unknown to Garnet too. She had never seen those creatures.She looked more closely as she spotted the what-would-be painting of her father , beside him to the left was a man she couldn't identify.Her eyebrows furrowed when her eyes landed on the person beside her father's right side. It was her mother , Queen Nakia . She was holding a baby while beside her was a young lady. She crunched her nose as she identified the familiar dress. Lady Miller


Her eyes drifted back to the man beside her father's left. He was wearing a red and black attire but what caught Garnet's attention was the crown placed atop his head. Beside him was a woman wearing an elegant dress. Atop her head was a crown as well. Beside her was a young boy. The woman was holding the young boy's hand.The boy's features are familiar but Garnet couldn't remember where she saw him. Atop the young boy's head was a crown as well. 


Garnet ran her eyes to the entire painting . Sure enough , From her mother to that little boy , they were all wearing crowns . This confused Garnet . Only they wear crowns in Galdine and who were they anyways ? The painting looked real , It really looked like Galdine but Garnet dismissed it as another human work clearly because there are others who she couldn't identify . She had never seen them before and she lived in Galdine all her life. It couldn't be true besides , how can a human see Galdine when only Immortaire go in it.No matter how much realistic it seemed to be , No matter how the painter captured everything correctly it couldn't be true.She knows everything about Galdine.


Or does she? She does right ?


Garnet felt nervousness washed over her. The realization that there's something she does not know about in Galdine worried her. She shook her head as she tried to remove the thought in her head It cannot be true
Garnet looked around and went to Jareth. She stopped a few steps from him as she noticed something odd in Jareth's eyes , It's kinda glowing but darkening at the same time.He had this far away look as if he's seeing something else.
Garnet tried holding Jareth's hand but the moment she did , Garnet felt charge of electricity ran up her spine . She shivered as the sensation lingered on her body . She looked at Jareth then to the thing he's staring at . It was a common gem , nothing special about it.The only thing odd about it was it's also glowing. Maybe it's natural ?


Garnet tried to get Jareth's attention by squeezing his hand. 
"Jareth ?" She called . No response 
"Jareth are you alright ?" She called again . Still no response
Garnet grabbed his shoulders and shook him "Jareth !" She called , her tone raised compared to earlier

Jareth snapped out of his reverie when Garnet shook him . He didn't know what happened but the odd feeling still lingered , barely there but still there . He glanced at Garnet's worried expression and tried to crook a smile " I'm sorry , what happened ?" still disoriented .
He heard Garnet sighed as she managed to smile back at him "Nothing , you just drifted away" She replied 
"Oh ? Sorry" He apologized "Let's go look around some more" He continued , hoping to change the awkward atmosphere. 
Garnet nodded and started walking to the deeper part of the museum . Jareth soon followed while giving a last glimpse at the gem . He clutched his chest ,  relieved that the sensation faded already .


 Jareth followed Garnet to one sculpture.She seemed to be interested in it's story . Jareth smiled and approached her . He knew all too well what that sculpture was all about . It was the sculpture of the 'Warrior King'.

"Interested?" Garnet heard Jareth inquired to her . She nodded , eyes still glued into the sculpture . It was a sculpture of a man . A fighter . It seems to be dedicated to someone highly respected 
"Who is he?" She asked him 
"That , Milady , is the Warrior King of Galbierre" He informed "He was the founder of Galbierre . He was known to be a skilled fighter ,  fought against the demons alongside the Great King Hiyo , sources say he used to be a very just king in his reign" 
Garnet's attention was ignited , having heard the name of her father."What is his name?"
"King Maleford...." He said , smiling widely , Unconsciously raising his chin.
Garnet's eyebrows furrowed in curiosity "You seem to be" She paused for a while " I don't know....Proud?" She finished in an uncertain tone 
Jareth's smile widened and Garnet swore she could see his eyes sparkling in pride and respect as he stared at the sculpture ,his face sporting a far away look . "Yea" he breathed absentmindedly 
Garnet smiled warmly at the sight of Jareth and she wondered if he's always like this . Calm and peaceful . She let her eyes drift to the sculpture of the king , He was standing proudly , right hand holding his sword while the sword itself was plunged to the ground . Her eyes landed on the small thing the king was holding in his left hand . She was about to question it when a tap from Jareth signalling they should move erased the question in her mind altogether .
